In the simulation and the calculation of power system, the accuracy of excitationsystem model and the precision of model parameters have a huge impact on the dynamicstability of power system. With domestic regional power grids interconnection, the problemof low frequency oscillation highlighting, the accuracy of excitation system model and theprecision of model parameters are becoming more and more important. Research on theexcitation system accurate models in detail which are used in the simulation and thecalculation of power system is necessary. This paper does a lot research in depth on IEEEstandard excitation system models and the excitation system models which are contended inthe software PSD-BPA. This paper also makes the physical meaning of parameters of eachmodel clear, and makes the scope of application of each mathematical model clear. In thispaper, the simulation and analysis of the impact on power system stability of variousparameters is provided.The under excitation limiter is an important auxiliary control system of the excitationcontrol system. The accuracy of under excitation limiter model and the precision of themodel parameters have important practical significance on the long term simulation andcalculation of power system. This paper elaborates IEEE standard under excitation limitermodels and makes the physical meaning of parameters of each model clear. Besides, thispaper proposes an identification procedure for the under excitation limiter, which was usedin practical engineering.This paper discusses deep about the excitation system open-loop gain and itsidentification, besides this paper investigates the setting mode of excitation controller andthe phase-shift trigger method of rectifier. This paper also analyzes physical links and itsparameters related to the excitation system open-loop gain. The reference value of fieldwinding resistance has important impact on the calculation of gain. It is discussed in this paper, the improvement of this problem is also highlighted. It is analyzed that thecommutation voltage drop of rectifier has important impact on the calculation of gain. Thispaper proposes an method to calculate the open-loop gain based on the reference value offiled winding current.
