Mixed-flow pump is a kind of general machine, which is widely used in the nationaleconomy sectors. The mixed-flow pump has a wide range of applications to farmlandirrigation and drainage, petrochemical industry, city water supply and drainage and shipbuilding, and other fields. Impeller is the key component of mixed-flow pump, however itsinternal fluid flow state is very complex; moreover it interact with the internal flow field. Thiskind of interaction is enough to affect the performance of the impeller, even to cause seriousdamage to the impeller. In order to increase accuracy of structural analysis of the impeller, there is a need to take internal flow field and its influence on the impeller into consideration. Therefore, to carry out static analysis of impeller through fluid-structure interactionsimulation can provide theoretical basis and numerical support for improving impeller’smechanical performances and optimizing blade’s shape.Flow zone in the Mixed-flow pump and3d entity of the impeller are modeled by usingUG software; the fluid grid and structure grid are generated by ANSYS ICEM software. Thenwe can obtain the flow state of the internal flow field through numerical simulation afterimporting mesh into ANSYS fluent software. With the static pressure results of the flow fieldand structure mesh, we can analyze the stress and deformation of the impeller by means of thefluid-structure coupling methodology.Through CFD simulation, it can be known that static pressure change of the suctionsurface is significantly greater than the pressure surface at the design condition. The lowpressure area is found on the suction surface at the blade inlet, where cavitation phenomenonoccurs easily. Fluid velocity on the suction surface is greater than the pressure surface’s. Therelative velocity of the fluid reduce gradually from the inlet to the outlet.Statics analysis results show that stress concentration phenomenon occurred at theintersections between blades and cover plates. But the impeller deformation is relatively small, which is not enough to affect the normal operation of the impeller, therefore the impellerdesign is reasonable.
