This paper is based on the project of“High slope’s long-term stability prediction and treatment research during construction and post-construction period”, and relying on red soft rock slope of the contract section of the route from the first to the eighth of LIU-LI highway project. This paper researched and analyzed properties of physics and mechanics of typical red soft rock, engineering geological properties of red soft rock slope, the instability and deformation mechanism of red soft rock slope, analysis and evaluation the stability, different excavation and reinforcement sequence impact on slope stability.This paper researched the regional geological environment and engineering geological properties of the topics by survey the site and drugged the related geological literature. According to the results, the topography of the route is gentle overall, water system is developed, the earthquake intensity is low, geological tectonic action is not strong, the right of the route is consequent slope and the main adverse geological is the slump of red soft slope.This paper has system researches of the physical and mechanical properties to red soft rock by indoor test. Mainly has: physical index test of rock and soil, shear strength test of red soil, compression test of red soft rock, saturated compression test, compression test of dry and saturated circulation, shear test of variable Angle, shear tests to including the structure of soft interlayer. The author fully mastered the physical and mechanical properties of the mass of red soil and soft rock. This paper taking the typical red soft rock cutting slope as the research object, giving a qualitative and quantitative analysis to the damage forms of deformation, failure mechanism and stability analysis and evaluation of the typical slope by analysis the slope of the geological structure, stereographic projection map, FLAC3D program and so on.This paper based on the influence factors to soft rock slope stability, and use excavation unloading rock mass mechanics related theory of red soft rock, comparative analysis of the two kinds of circumstances of supporting in time and lag in supporting, it is concluded that supporting in time is better to red soft slope’s stability.The correlative conclusions which get from the paper of engineering properties of red soft rock and stability research of the slope, to guide design and construction to the red soft rock slope of LIU-LI highway has important practical significance.
