In view of the serious problem of bottom water coning in thin layer bottom reservoir, gel foam is studied to slow down the bottom water coning and improve the production conditions. As the good block and select property, an effective partition between the oil-water interface is established by gel foam.Gelling properties and foaming properties is used to optimize the structure of gel foam through indoor static experiments. The best formula suitable for Lu Liang oilfield of gel foam was: 0.15%~0.2% LA100 +0.3%~0.4% FH-7 +0.25%~0.3% SDS +0.05%~0.1% Ninol +N2.The optimal injection parameters to inject gel foam into porous media is gas-liquid mixing injection, 1:1 vapor liquid ratio, 1m L/min gas injection speed. The application performance of gel foam is optimized by physical simulation experiment under the optimal injection parameters. The resistance coefficient is larger than 10.0, which resulted in a high injection pressure to supply the stratum energy. The plugging performance exceed 94.5% for different permeability sand-filled pipes. Its High permeability selectivity and oil-water selectivity are better than simple gel. Physical simulation visualization experiment shows that gel foam priority access to water cone and pressure water cone down. Based on its selectivity, gel foam can extend in the horizontal direction and form the bottom water separator, which expand the sweep volume of water drive. The water flooding recovery is 32.6%.Stability is the key of gel foam application performance. Rotational viscometer and surface tensiometer is used to study the foaming liquid viscosity and surface tension of ordinary foam and gel foam. High power optical microscope and Ross-Miles bubble meter is used to study the carrying amount of liquid and the microstructure of ordinary foam and gel foam. The experimental results show that gel foam can significantly improve both membrane viscosity and carrying amount of membrane, which increase the foam stability.On the basis of indoor research, the gel foam water plugging scheme is set out to provide technical guidance for site construction combining with the feature of LuLiang oilfield production well.
