Lying in the northeast of Qinshui coalfield, Yangquan mining area is one of the high quality anthracite bases in our country as well as one of the mining areas which have the largest reservoir of gas in our country. The second mine of Yangquan coal mine lines in the east of Yangquan mining area. Its coal bed buried relatively deep, and it’s a mine with sharp coal and gas problems. Gas accident is still a big question affecting the safe production in the mine. In this paper, No.8, No.9 and No.15 coal beds in the second mine of Yangquan mining area are taken as the research targets. Gas and geology theory is used in this paper combining the geological formation characteristics in the mining area and well field to analyze the control function of geologic evolution and structure to gasses; The occurrence law of coal seam gas is studied by the depth of the coal seam, the thickness of the upper bedrock and the elevation of the bottom plate by using linear regression method; The occurrence law of coal seam gas is also studied by analyse the geological conditions as the faults, folds, roof and floor lithology, karst collapse column, hydrological geology; Predicted the coal seam gas content; Analyzed the law of gas emission in coal mine and preliminary forecasted the coal and gas outburst danger zone of each seam.
