Porous ceramics have a very broad application in many fields because of its characteristics in high porosity and high surface area, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, sound absorption and electromagnetic shielding. With the development of its research, people find that hierarchical porous ceramics with different pore sizes, often have the properties that are not available in conventional porous materials. It is found that the natural structure of wood is a hierarchical structure with different sizes, which provides a new idea for the preparation of porous materials with hierarchical porous materials. Wood ceramics is a common method. In this paper, tamarisk was chosen as a research object which growing in desert area. Tamarisk evolved good water storage performance and mechanical properties, in order to adapt to the conditions of drought and sandstorm. All of these will directly affect the performance of wood ceramics. The porous structre was studied by stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope. Tamarisk wood internal porosity is about 50% by using the method of drainage. Bending strength of tamarisk and weeping willow were tested by using a universal testing machine. Tamarisk bending strength was significantly greater than that of the weeping willows. We obtained the porous ceramics containing SiC through the pretreatment, vacuum impregnation and high temperature sintering. Pretreatment is to remove impurities in the pores of the tamarisk, and this is conducive to improve the impregnation efficiency. The impregnation of wood was obviously improved by measuring the contact angle of tamarisk before and after pretreatment. In the process of vacuum impregnation, hydrolysis of TEOS enerates SiO2.Through the thermal analysis of tamarisk, carbonization process is determined, and then make the sintering temperature. When alkali solution concentration is 0.2 mol/L, pretreatment time is 360 min,TEOS and hydrochloric acid volume ratio is 2:1,impregnation efficiency is the highest by orthogonal test.By using stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope, we can find that ceramics copied the structre of tamarisk successfully. However there is some cracks in the surface of wood ceramics. In order to analyze the influence of temperature on the yield, composition, porosity and bending strength of wood ceramics, a lot of experiments was conducted such as XRD, drainage method and bend test. Wood ceramic acid and alkali corrosion resistance is better than tamarisk by measuring the weight loss before and after corrosion. The tamarisk and the wood ceramics prepared at 1650℃ was tested by X ray three dimensional microscope which is a nondestructive testing method. It was summed up that the internal structure characteristics and the distribution of SiC.
