Membrane separation is an efficient and convenient separation technology. Comparing with the traditional wastewater treatment, membrane separation has lots of advantages, such as no phase change, good continuous operation, less space demand, wastewater recycle, and useful material recovery and so on.In this thesis, firstly, the theory of reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF), the preparation method of membrane and the research progress of the membrane technology application in industry wastewater were introduced.Secondly, the biochemical treatment effluent from some coal chemical plant in Shanghai was treated by the main process combined with UF and RO. As shown in the operating data of UF-RO process, the system had strong anti-strike performance. The great efficiency of UF-RO process for wastewater treatment of coal to methanol industry was obtained. The quality of treated wastewater was superior to surface water and fully satisfied the requirement of industrial water. If further treatment, such as EDI, the permeate would meet the boiler feed water requirement and the concentration could be achieved zero-emission by the treatment of multi-effect distillation. Finally, the coupled UF, RO and EDI process was considered for the design of CSKS project.200 m3/h treatment unit of sanitary sewage and 550 m3/h further treating and recycle unit of wastewater would be manufactured. The wastewater emission cuts of 370.4 million tons per year (including 1030.8 tons of organic compound and 369.6 tons ammonia nitrogen) were estimated. It showed good environmental benefits, economic benefits and social benefits.
