The Study On Economic Cooperation Between Shanxi And Henan Province Under The Context Of Central Plains Economic Region Planning

With the accelerated process of the international economic globalization andregional economic integration, regional cooperation has become a consensus ofcountries in the world. The international cooperation organizations like APEC, EU andNAFTA affected the world economy development deeply. In China, the area of YangtzeRiver Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Sea Economic Zone also played an importantrole in promoting the coordinated economies development of our country. OnNovember17,2012, the State Council approved the planning of Central PlainsEconomic Region (CPER), which means that CPER becomes one of the keydevelopment areas of our country and one of the most important aspects of the Rise ofCentral China. CPER is located in China’s heartland and has a special strategic position,so more and more researchers paid attention to it since it was born. As an important partof CPER, Shanxi and Henan province are closely associated with each other either ingeography, cultural or commerce and trade. However, because of the administrativedivision, the process of economic cooperation between these two provinces was slow,not only hindered their economic development, and also affected the economic rise ofCentral China. Therefore, the study on economic cooperation between Shanxi andHenan province under the context of CPER planning has very important practicalsignificance.Based on the systematic analysis about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunitiesand threats of the cooperation between Shanxi and Henna province, this thesis hasanalyzed the current situation and existing problems. Then, referencing the domesticand foreign models of the successful cooperation region, this thesis has constructed ainnovative cooperation model for Shanxi and Henna province, and put forward thestrategies to promote these two provinces’ cooperation. This thesis is divided into sixparts. The first chapter made some explanation about the background of the subject,main research contents and methods, reviewed the theory and relevant researchachievement about regional cooperation. The second chapter analyzed the strengths,weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the cooperation between Shanxi and Henna province systematically using the method of SWOT. The third chapter analyzed thepresent situation of the cooperation between Shanxi and Henna, and put forward theidea that the main problem between these two provinces is lack of executive force,narrow industry cooperation, etc. The chapter four summarized the successful regionalcooperation models, and proposed the innovative regional cooperation mode for Shanxiand Henna, namely the “government-led cooperation model of point, line and plane”.Chapter five put forward the strategies to strengthen the cooperation of Shanxi andHenna aiming at the problems mentioned before. Chapter six was the conclusion of thispaper.I hope the result of this thesis can play a helpful role of guidance and reference topromote the cooperation process about Shanxi and Henna province.
