With the third restructuring of telecommunication industry and the issuance of3G, China is gradually entering the era of entire business operations. In the context of this background, with the increasing penetration of the smart terminal which is represented by iPhone, the mobile data traffic shows explosive growth. However, a surge in mobile date traffic benefited the operators while also brought to them issues such as network loading pressure and non-profit with the increased network traffic. Therefore, how to improve network traffic operation is of great practical significance for the operators.This thesis begins with an analysis of the specific connotation of traffic operation. It thinks that the so-called traffic operation means a scarce set of policy activities of network operators, relying on their own network advantages, improving the value of the network and reducing the cost of network operations by means of the technology and economic, making the network resources allocated optimally. Based on this, the thesis attempts to study the traffic operation in-depth from the aspects of the charges and business model.In the terms of flow rate, it studies the pricing of network traffic from both the expanding of flow profits and network congestion control. Firstly it analysis the impact of price elasticity of demand on flow profits, and the conditions for expanding the flow profits under two scenarios. Secondly it builds a peak load pricing model based on traffic demand on the time difference, drawing on peak load price modeling of electric power industry, discussing the different situations of network traffic optimal pricing structure. It provides reference of achieving peak load shifting and reducing peak pressure of network.In the terms of business model, the thesis focuses on the impacts of OTT services on the traditional business models. It studies the business model of micro-letter from the respects of product, marketing and profits and concludes that OTT services business models provide the operators enlightenments to building business models of traffic operation.
