A Research On Organizational Communication Ability

As an important area of domestic Communication research, Organizational Communication was introduced into China in the1980s. In contrast, the organizational communication ability as the core concept study is almost a blank. The domestic researches on communication capacity basically is carried around the mass media, and emphasized on applied research, lacking of the discussion on communication theory level.This paper tries to explore and analysis the essences and components of the organizational communication ability, from the perspective of communication theory, and build a reference framework and system with theoretical significance and universal values.Firstly, the research sorted out and explained some related concepts such as organizational communication, communication capability, effective communication, and analyze the nature and meaning of the organizational communication capability. Then based on the analysis for interpersonal communication competence of Sarah Trenholm and Arthur Jenson, to research and analyze the organizational communication capability. Simultaneously, the paper probed the levels and types of organizational communication, as well as the self-monitoring of organizational communicators for their own communication ability and other issues.The essence of the organizational communication ability is to establish or maintain relationships. An organizational communicator with communication capacity, is able to organize the relationship between the various elements of the communication process and links intertwined, and realize the establishment or maintaining of relationships between the organization and its target audience, so as to achieve a variety of objectives and interests of the organization.Organizational communication capabilities includes eight specific capacity:ability of relationships, ability of information, capability of channels, ability of context, ability of listening, capacity of target, ability of empathy and ability to act. Ability of these eight aspects could be the evaluation of the organizational communication ability, or the organization’s ability to establish and maintain relationships both inside and outside the tissues, as well to provide a theoretical and practical significance.
