This paperexpounds the transmission principle of optical fiber, and introduces the classification offiber type, fiber attenuation and the reasons of fiber attenuation, and analyzes differentattenuation between the liquid core optical fiber and general solid optical fiber.After determine the design scheme of producing liquid core optical fiber, listing therequirements of fiber composition material, and the selection of material, selected thesuitable liquid core and cladding material through comparing, build the liquid core opticalfiber preliminary, and describes the production process, the material selection criteria isreasonable and effective during the research, the design of optical fiber structure isreasonable, the manufacturing route is feasible. Later designed the detection circuit, it ismade of photoelectric conversion circuit, power circuit, amplifying circuit, and lists theperformance index, draw the circuit diagram, make the circuit board, each part isconducted for simulation on the software. Finally connect optical parts to the detectioncircuit and conduct the optical experiments, make a research on optical fiber performancemetrics, record data, analyze data, and summarizes the rule. This article uses qualitative measurement, measured the influence on the transmittance with different liquid, the liquidcore length and core diameter in a particular situation.The results show that homemade optical fiber can transmit, and obtain the prospectiveresult basically.
