With the deepening of the information revolution and the advent of the era of big data, the requirement of communication is higher. The more flexible and intelligent communication network with high-speed transmission rate has become the developing direction of the optical communication. In the process, the tunable lasers with low cost, stable, wide bandwidth will play a more important role. In particular, the high speed wavelength switching of the tunable laser is more and more important in the next generation of intelligent network. The speed of the laser wavelength switching will determine the flexibility of the future optical communication.The purpose of this research is experimental demonstration of high speed wavelength switching of V-coupled-cavity semiconductor laser which is a novel tunable laser with a simple structure and low cost.This article introduces the tuning principle of the V-coupled-cavity laser and analyzes that the different wavelength switching speeds of the current inject effect wavelength switching and the temperature effect wavelength switching.In this article, two kinds of wavelength switching speed measurement systems are designed and established. One is optical filter method and the other is optical heterodyne method.In the end, we imply the measurement of V-coupled-cavity laser wavelength switching speed. By optical filter method and optical heterodyne method, two kinds of effect mechanism wavelength switching speeds of VCCL are measured,which proves that VCCL has high speed wavelength switching.
