Ultrasonic testing as a non-invasive detection method is widely used in the nuclear industry, aerospace, rail fields. Phased array ultrasonic testing technology has deflection, focus and dynamic scanning features. In phased array ultrasound system, array unit number, the consistency between the channel parameters, phased array ultrasonic transmitter delay accuracy and imaging algorithms are the important factors which affect the ultrasound imaging quality. Compared with conventional ultrasonic testing, phased array ultrasonic testing system has higher emission energy, wide detection range, higher sensitivity and higher automation degree.Based on the study of phase array ultrasonic system’s key technology, this article has designed a16-channel ultrasonic phased array system which will be used on nondestructive testing.We. have finished the detailed design of functional module, the parameter index in each level, the flow of data and signals in the system and system control structure design.By learning the existing single-channel ultrasonic studies transceiver circuit and in-depth understanding of how it works, this design tried some digitized and modular attempt on its basis. Finally we use FPGA for system communication, function module control and data conversion upload. By using dedicated multi-channel beam-former, analog front-end and other highly integrated chip, the system have become integrated and digitalized. The FPGA based program of this design have been simulated and verified and we have tested the software control result, the whole function module of hardware circuit. The results show that the system software has reached a predetermined control and measurement results, each of the hardware module operated normally, the parameters and indicators meet most of the design requirements, the design achieved the emission of ultrasound and echo receiving and processing purposes. In short, this design has some reference and practical value.
