Groundwater resource is one of the indispensable and irreplaceable importantmaterial resources in human’s social production and life. Along with populationgrowth and economic development, the severe shortage of water resource andpollution are exerting an influence on human beings. The construction of groundwaterresource information management system and the effective management over waterresource can deliver effective support for the sustainable utilization and developmentof water resource.As one of the northern cities whose groundwater is the major source of domesticand production water in China, Shenyang has the groundwater primarily sourced fromriverside groundwater source field. Specific to the population facing the groundwaterfrom Shenyang’s riverside water source field and the surrounding water sourceenvironment, this paper designs an information management system for Shenyang’sriverside groundwater source field in the light of the theoretical foundations includingthe features of rivers, surface water, groundwater, and surrounding environment aswell as the correlation among them in riverside groundwater source field system, andthe demand for the management over groundwater source field and the surveillanceover its pollution.Starting from the actual demand of the project, this paper applies GIS togroundwater source management, combining ArcGIS Engine with.net technology.With C#taken as programming language, this paper constructs a data managementsystem with four functions, including data management and maintenance, data input,spatial analysis and groundwater source field evaluation, by means of SQL databasemanagement system and object-oriented programming technology.The application of riverside groundwater source field information managementsystem can not only upgrade existing water resource management mode effectively,but also help users to manage environmental information data, production informationdata and the pollution information data in water source and analyze the demand forinformatization, scientization and standardization. Now, the system has been appliedto the actual work of Shenyang water affair system, in which it has achieved a goodresult.
