With the rapid growth of economy, the vehicles are increasing all over the world,the resulting traffic problem is becoming more and more, at the same time increasethe difficulty of traffic management, the issue has been the attention of governmentsaround the world. Intelligent transportation system not only can effectively alleviatetraffic congestion caused by the supervision and management problems, but also canreduce because of the traffic problem brought by the broad masses of the people’sproperty loss. Red light capture system is an important part of the intelligenttransportation system, it can realize the automatic detection of a motor vehicle duringthe red light, at the same time, according to the test results automatically recognizeand captured the vehicle’s running a red light.To solve above problems, this paper carried on the red light capture system basedon DSP, the main research work are as follows:(1) Introduced the red light capture system research’s purpose and significance,red light capture system and vehicle detection capture technology status at home andabroad. Focus on vehicle detection capture algorithm is studied, including vehicledetection and vehicle capture modules. the function of vehicle detection module, thefirst complete background modeling and update based on accumulation differencemethod, then to the extraction of the background difference image smoothing filtering,binarization threshold segmentation and morphological segment the moving targetsafter corrosion expansion processing vehicles, according to the method of completevehicle virtual coil detection. Vehicle automatic identification of capturing module isbased on the video traffic lights, when the red light, complete red light vehicleautomatic capture.(2) The paper designs framework of red light capture system, and according tothe functions of the system, including the customer terminal system and the serviceterminal system, service terminal system is mainly responsible for the function ofvideo acquisition, processing, coding and transmission, customer terminal system ismainly responsible for receiving, decoding of video, display and play and on theservice side remote control function of the camera. (3) The paper completes red light capture system’s service terminal systemdesign. It is given hardware structure and software design of embedded acquisitionequipment based on DM6446,focus on software programming under Linux system areintroduced, including video capture, video analysis, video coding and transmissionmodule of detailed design.(4) Finally the paper completes red light capture system’s customer terminalsystem design. In PC, through DirectShow multimedia technology of the Windows toachieve the video receiving, decoding, display and play function, at the same timecomplete the service side remote control and function of extracting the capturevehicle’s license plate number.
