As the ytterbium ion has a broad gain spectrum and long level fluorescence lifetime, ytterbium-doped fiber amplifier (YDFA) is particularly suitable for the ultrashort pulses amplification and the high power output. Thus it has caused considerable attention. It is essential to ensure a stable performance of pump source for YDFA. The main work of this thesis is to design a reliable drive and control circuit.The drive and control system designed in this thesis is divided into two modules, the host computer and the hardware control panel. PC software is developed by serial communication control programing, on the basis of VC++MScomm, the main function is to send the control command and monitor in real-time; single chip microcomputer is used as the control core of hardware control board, through the negative feedback amplify circuit and the MCU program to realize the steady output.In the communication between PC and hardware control panel, the asynchronous serial communication mode is used. PC sends drive current value to the microcontroller, the microcontroller in accordance with procedures designed converts the drive current into a digital value corresponding to the digital to analog conversion chip, then the latter sends analog voltage to negative feedback circuit. By sampling the output voltage of control panel achive a digital quantity and compared to the value of digital-analog converter chip. If the former is larger, the value is reduced to the digital-analog converter chip; if the former is smaller, then upgrade to the digital-analog conversion chip digital. By the closed-loop control through program to further ensure the steady current output. To determine the relationship between PC input current, the actual driving current and the echo of the current, using the least squares fitting function to reduce the error between the three.The drive circuit in this thesis is characterized by the combination of the drive control and the monitoring, and the system can observe the change of the drive current in real time.
