Pathological diagnosis is the qualitative method of the disease diagnosis and treatment, called as the "gold standard". As the role of pathological diagnosis becomes more important and the dramatic increase in workload, the hospitals in China generally face a situation of serious shortage of pathologists at these days, and training experienced pathologists is particularly urgent. However, traditional clinical teaching process is based on the microscope with multi-people browsing devices, which has insufficient. With the rapid development of Internet technology and the informatization of hospitals, the use of digital slides makes the clinical pathology processing better, and effectively accelerate training pathologist? with good conditions.This paper proposes a new digital-slide clinical teaching system, which costs less than the microscope with multi-people browsing devices and brings better experience on CSCW.Firstly, we introduce the basic knowledge of digital slides and technologies used in this system. Secondly, we research the clinical pathology teaching model, present the cooperative work of clinical pathology teaching and recommend using CSCW to realize the clinical pathology teaching. Thirdly we analyze the process of clinical pathology teaching。We propose the user demand and design the structure of this system. After that, we focus on designing the three major functional modules of the clinical teaching system-digital slides view module (based on OL), multimedia for audio and video communication module (based on Red5), co-operating module. At the same time, we recommend using Websocket to transfer co-operating information instead of other Web communication technologies like Ajax Polling. Also, we use JSON as the client and server Websocket communication information encapsulation format-to control the operation of digital slides module between different client by JSON command, and make the view synchronous. Lastly, under the framework of Java EE, we use some technologies like HTML5and Javascript to realize the client side, and use Jetty to realize the co-operating messaeges server support Websocket. The result shows the digital-slide clinical teaching system can be a good alternative to microscope with multi-people browsing devices, at the same time it supports multiple platforms without installing client software.This system can be easily used and has a good application prospect.
