Robotics is a comprehensive course on robotic technology, which involves the knowledge of the discipline of mechanics, mechanical engineering, operation system, control theory, sensors technology, computer science, electronics and artificial intelligence, represents the level of national technology development and information technology.The Mobile Intelligent Robot of this research project works on is a kind of mobile robot. This article introduces the background of the subject, the status of domestic and foreign researches, the current research hotspots and the development trend in future. The reform of the mobile car in the research focus on two parts:the motor in the back provides the power for the system, the servo motor in the front would change the direction for the car. Through a comparative consideration it chooses Arduino as the control center, builds a server on OpenWrt system, and connected each part by a USB hub. The hardware of the surveillance mobile robot consists of a control center combined with the power supply, an electric relay, Arduino UNO, Web camera and WR703N router, etc. There are two software ways to remote control the surveillance mobile robot which are Android client and Web client. In order to achieve the monitoring functions of the surveillance robot through Wi-Fi, it flashing open source OpenWrt on WR703N router to become a server, and install core drivers for Arduino and mjpg-streamer. Building an Android development platform quickly by ADT Bundle, it develops and debugs the application LanDroid based on socket protocol. It designs the Web client by embedding Lua script into the webpages and using the technology of HTML, CSS and Javascript comprehensively. Both Android client and Web client realize the communication with OpenWrt server by Wi-Fi, besides, Web client could run on different hardware platform by visiting the URL in the internet browser. Through separate and unity test for the hardware and software system of the Mobile Intelligent Equipment, the control center of Arduino can work stable, the server based on OpenWrt has a good signal and can response rapidly to the client, Webcam can captures a clear video, and it can provide a flexible control of the surveillance robot.
