In all of the network failures, link failure accounted for69.2%. About50%of the failures were instantaneous failure which last less than one minute. Unless we manually shut down the unstable links, these unstable links will be continuously unstable and will become flap link which will lead to route flap. Therefore, with the increase of all kinds of real-time network service, the exsiting flap damping mechanism of routing protocols can no longer satisfy the requirements.The current flap damping mechanisms are lack in flap detection accuracy and flexibility. This thesis presents the route flap damping technology which takes into account the whole network state. The new mechanism improves the accuracy and flexibility of flap damping.For the OSPF routing protocol, this thesis proposes and develops a dynamic adaptive flapping damp mechanism based on the analysis of network status. On the basis of the technology, this thesis researches the principle of flap damping mechanism combined with LFA. Then this thesis researches on BGP flapping location tracking technology.Simulation experiments were carried out in the scenarios of different network scales. The simulation result proved the functionality and performance of the mechanism.This thesis mainly includes four parts.(1) The advantages and disadvantages of traditional BGP and OSPF flap damping mechanisms are studied and analyzed in depth.(2) For the OSPF routing protocol, we propose and develop a dynamic adaptive flapping damp mechanism based on the analysis of network status. Simulation experiments are carried out in scenarios with different network scale. The simulation result proved the functionality and performance of the mechanism(3) On the basis of dynamic adaptive flap damping technology, we propose a flap damping mechanism combined with LFA and develop it on SSFNET platform.(4) A BGP flapping location tracking technology is proposed and developed on SSFNET platform. Simulation result proved the functionality and performance of the mechanism.
