With the development of electronic information systems such as communication and radar, the dual-polarized technology of antenna is being widely attention. Applications in radar systems, requiring a stronger ability of detection, greater coverage airspace, higher data rates, and can adapt to multi-target environment, therefore the phased-array radar and beam forming technology get attention and development. In this topic, we studied the basic theory of array antenna and classical methods of its pattern synthesis. Design one-dimensional dual-polarized phased array antenna based on Xi’an Hengda Microwave Technology Development Company’s project.Array antenna’s unit was formed with printed dipole-antenna. Then, we design a new dual-polarized printed dipole-antenna by loading "defected ground structure". It extends the bandwidth effectively. Simulation and processing test results show that the impedance bandwidth of less than2could be in excess of45percent, the isolation between the two ports is less than-30dB. Compared to ordinary printed dipole-antenna, its performance improved significantly.Use the new broadband dual-polarized printed dipole-antenna as the radiating unit, designing one-dimensional dual-polarized phased array antenna worked in L-band. Based on the theoretical analysis, we design two linear array antenna in the horizontal direction and vertical direction. Using Taylor synthesis in the azimuth plane, to achieve a low sidelobe narrow beam of radiation. While pitching surface realized a cosecant-squared pattern with Woodward synthesis. Finally, according to the multiplication principle of pattern, design a planar array antenna with8×8units. Give the antenna’s index requirements and simulation design results.
