Comparative Study Of Language On The Synchronic Chinese Sports News In Five Chinese Speech Communities

Based on the corpus of Chinese sports news from five Chinese SpeechCommunities，including Mainland China、Hong Kong、Macao、Taiwan、Singapore,this paper discusses similarities and differences of Chinese variants on vocabulary、sentence and text with the respect to the sports news.The thesis consists of three parts: introduction, main body, and conclusion.In the introduction we reviewed research of languages of sports news and language variants, and introduced the purpose of this study, the significance andmethods of this theory,and also illustrate corpus and softwares used in the study. The main part is divided into three chapters.They respectively expound similarities and differences of Chinese variants on vocabulary、sentence and textwith the respect to the sports news.The part of conclusion explains the internal factors of the similarities and differences.Chinese variants on Chinese sports news from five Chinese Speech Communitieshave plenty of similarities.They are determined by the rep orted object、genre andstylistic particularity of sports news. It reveals that Chinese Speech Communitiesshare the various similarities on a specific topic of the strong rendering, diversity ofsynonymous means, popularity, inclusiveness, etc. At the sentence level, sports newslanguage is characterized by many long sentences. In addition，abundant exclamatorysentences are also one of the features of sentence category in sports news.Commonly used groups of sentence pattern，such as “ba”、“bei”，also reflect thecharacteristics of the object of the sports news. At the text level, rich variety of theuse of cohesive devices and the unique theme-rheme arrangement and propulsionmodel also highlight the txet features of sports news. Entertainment and a style ofKnight-errant Novel are also the language style in Chinese sports news from fiveChinese Speech Communities in common.Apart from all these similarities, Chinese variants on Chinese sports news fromfive Chinese Speech Communities also have a lot of differences.This ispersonalization of Chinese variants.The aim of newspaper media, nature ofbusiness, the background of history and geography in these communities，politicalenvironment in the language of Chinese sports news from five Chinese SpeechCommunities make them personalized. In our study, we choose <China Daily> frommainland as reference corpus of themed events and inspect the differences of several other variants of Chinese sports news language，because it has a large scope ofcoverage and objective solemn style. Different regional media language from wordsto sentences and text has its own unique personality, also shows the Chinese richvariety. Through the above analysis， we proclaim the importance of thestandardization on Chinese variants and the necessity of strengtheningcommunication, reducing language differences and promoting relative unification ofChinese language. And we study linguistics from the perspective of sports news alsocan reveal the character of Chinese language in specific area s, style and regioncharacteristic.They deepen our understanding of the richness and diversity ofChinese language.
