With the rapid development of science and technology, the power electronicdevices become more and more popular in daily life. Power electronic equipmentbrings convenience to people, but it also brings some negative effects: Because thepower electronic equipment is a non-linear load, it will generate harmonic. When thepower electronic equipment into the power system,it may lead to the deterioration ofpower quality. In the context of countries proposed the building of a "smart grid" era,requirements of the power system and electrical equipment for power quality will behigher and higher. Because the active power filter has the advantage of rapid,accurate, efficient, so it is a kind of important tool to improve power quality.Based on the research status of active power filter in detail, in-depth study ofthe various harmonic current detection method and harmonic current controlstrategy, then three-phase shunt active power filter based on i_p-i_qalgorithm isdesigned. The main parameters of the active power filter are designed. In order toverify the correctness of the design, the three-phase shunt active power filter issimulated by PSCAD/EMTDC simulation software. The cutoff frequency of thelow-pass filter is determined and main circuit of AC side inductance on thecompensation effect is studied by simulation. When the data were obtained from thesimulation, the hardware circuit was constructed, software programs are designedand the peripheral circuit of DSP is designed, the experimental platform is designed.Simulation and experimental results show that three-phase shunt active powerfilter based on i_p-i_qalgorithm can quickly detect harmonic current and can effectivelycompensate the harmonic.
