Leather punching is an important process to improve the beauty and comfort ofthe leather goods. With the development of computer technology, informationprocessing technology and automatic control technology, punching processing hasbeen changed from manual to intelligent and automatic. Digital punching technologyis the development tendency of the leather punching, computer control the machinetool to do the work automatically based on the presetting program,which makes theprocess convenient, efficient and reliable. Image-guided digital punching technologyhas automatically programming ability based on image collection, which makesefficiency further increased, and could help the leather industry much.In this paper,a digital leather punching system has been designed. There arethree parts in the system:Leather image processing, punching route optimizing andmotion control system designing. Firstly, leather image has been preprocessed, whichcontains weighting graying, bilateral filtering, improved image interpolating, andbinarization processing with global threshold, then, the edge detection and contourextraction has been done to identify the pass. Secondly, the distribution characteristicsof the pass have been analyst and global punching route optimizing has been done.Lastly, motion control system finishes the processing by preset route.The core of the system is image processing. In this paper, Open CV has beenused to process the image, which makes the program more simple and reliable.Interpolation algorithm has been improved by taking the features of every region intoaccount, which makes the edge information in image better preserved. When doingthe route optimizing, pass location distribution in image has been analyst, then amethod of improving global optimal route evaluation has been used. In motioncontrol system, TMS320F2812which has nice anti-interference capability has beenadopted as the core, and makes the system more reliable and could use complicatedcontrol algorithm.This system meets the need of leather enterprises,and has some practical value.
