Measurement and control technology is playing an important role in modern engineering practice.Turntable is major equipment used for testing and calibration of inertial components and measurement and control technology in the turntable research applications are increasingly widespread.With the development of computer technology, measurement and control instrument gradually shift from analog controller to digital controller in the last century, and its performance is also rising. Born in this century, SOPC technology succeed in embedding a core processor in the FPGA, making FPGA has functions of programmable logic device as well as microprocessor, so you can use one FPGA chip instead of the original twos:a microprocessor and a FPGA achieved by the function of chips, reducing costs while improving the reliability of the system and bringing a new dawn for measurement and control technology. Against this background, we applied the SOPC technology into the field of measurement and control in an FPGA to achieve common measurement and control function.In this paper, we use FPGA chip of Altera’s EP2C8series as the main chip, described in detail system development process based on SOPC, development tools, as well as the Nios Ⅱ processor architecture and performance, and the Avalon bus specification.Through measurement and control system’s functional design, we completed the FPGA platform circuit design, including power circuit, off-chip memory, serial communication and external AD/DA circuit.The main part of the paper is to use the hardware built well to develop SOPC measurement and control system. The main function of this system is frequency measurement, angle measurement, signal generation, data acquisition, and a PWM waveform generation. Beside this, we apply sopc technology in Servo control applications.These various functional modules in the FPGA achieve full use of the advantages of the development of embedded systems, at the same time using a custom IP technology, combining the advantages of programmable logic devices and microprocessor, thus complete the corresponding functional design.
