With the rapid development of Information Communication Technology (ICT),people’s demand of communication is increasing continuously, the problem of energyconsumption and pollution is more and more serious. we need green communications tosave the energy and protect our environment by improving the energy efficiency of thecommunication system.Heterogeneous network is one of the popular topic of green communications.Heterogeneous network is a communication network with basestations transmittingdifferent power to serve users.It makes the deployment of the network more flexibility.In green communications, we can make use of different base stations of heterogeneousnetwork to shorten the distance between users with base station. By this way, we canreduce the pathloss of the system, achieving the goal to improve the energy efficiency.Picocell is an important part of the heterogeneous network of LTE. Thetransmitting power of picocell is between23dBm and30dBm. Picocellsare used at somehot zones in the city, underground parking, residential area and villages. Picocell ischeap and easy toinstall.Picocell deployed in different manners and influence on energy efficiency of thesystem in which picocell are assigned to various CRE in heterogeneous networkcomprised of macrocells and picocells are discussed in this paper.In this paper, three main deployment scenarios are investigated. First of all,deploying the picocells flexibility, considering the different places where we deploy thepicocells such as rural and city, and then their energy efficiency is been calculated indetail. And then, making use of CRE of picocell in green communications, find the bestsettings of CRE in different scenarios. Finally, creating the segmented settings for CREto improve the energy efficiency of the system.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the LTE technology background and network architecture.The second chapter introduces the CRE of picocell and the existing technology ofgreen communications in heterogeneous network in detail. And then we come up withour network model consisting of macrocell and picocell, calculating the transmittingpower and throughput of the system. After that we calculate the energy efficiency of thesystem.In the third chapter we study the model of macrocell-picocell deployed in ruralarea. We check the project and find the best setting for improving the energy efficiencyof the system by simulation.In the fourth chapter we study the model of macrocell-picocell deployed in city.We create the segmented settings for CRE. And then we check the idea by simulation,proving the usage of it.In the fifth chapter we summarize this paper.
