Study On The Lacking Of Main Status Of Farmers On " Agriculture, Rural Areas, Farmers" Reports Of People’s Daily(1979-2011)

Since the reform and opening up,"agriculture, rural areas, farmers (referred to the"three rural "issue) is always a hot topic in the whole country. In the past three decades, theCPC Central Committee has promoted "Three Rural Issues"13times. And the media hasalways considered agriculture-related problems as a sustainable topic, the “three rural"issue reports exhibits a great prosperity. But farmers as the main factors in the "ThreeRural Issues"(farmers are agriculture workers, they live in the rural areas), does theirdominant position embody well?In this study, we extract680Newspapers from the "People’s Daily". There are3529samples. It will give an analysis about the farmer’s status in People’s Daily, respectivelyfrom the perspective of sources, the reported view, the distribution issues and farmers’image building, etc. From the results of the statistics, we find out the dominant position offarmers in the absence of state. Firstly, farmers are not the main source in the farmerreports in People’s Daily; secondly, farmers are not the most important perspective inthese reports; thirdly, farmers are not the main issue in "rural" reports. Even more, thesereports does not match with their actual demands; finally, the shape of the farmers in the"People’s Daily" is out of their real Image. From these aspects, it is evident that thedominant position of farmers in the report of the People’s Daily has not been fullyreflected, the dominant position of the farmers marginalization.In the “three rural "issue reports in People’s Daily, farmers are serious deficiencies inthe dominant position. What’s more, the emergence of this feature is not accidental, butthe political, economic, social and media factors formed. For changing this situation, Onthe one hand, the government should vigorously improve the farmers’ income and reducetheir burden; also eliminate the urban-rural dual structure model and establish the socialsystem of the urban and rural; on the other hand, the news media should create a real andobjective image of the farmers, so that farmers will become the protagonist in the “threerural "issue reports.
