The concept of "media events" in mass communication examines the impact of "live TV" on major social events in the following ways:the event itself, the relationship between participants and the event, how the event is disseminated, and the event’s overall social, economic and cultural influence. In the20th century, the emergence of the Internet has led to great changes in the media’s effect on events. It revolutionized the theory of "media events" that originally referred to the impact of "live TV". This paper, under the theoretical framework of the "media event" and the current Sino-Japanese Diaoyu Island dispute, attempts to use content analysis and in-depth interviews to interpret the new "media events" in the context of the Internet. From the perspective of the mass focus mode (explain this!), the disintermediation in the communication process, the collective memory formation mechanism and the effect of public opinion and diplomatic field, the researcher aims to summarize the features of the new "media events" and identify the breakthroughs of new "media events".
