The millimeter-wave traveling-wave tube is a very important part of modernmillimeter amplifiers for their combined performances in bandwidth, power capacity, gainvariation and linearity. The slow-wave structure (SWS) as the core of the traveling-wavetube devices, its performance will directly determine the development of thetraveling-wave tube. With the improvement of the operating frequency, the traditionalslow-wave structure in the processing technology, has been very limited, therefore, thenew2-D microfabrication techniques slow-wave structure is an important direction of ourdevelopment.The microstrip meander-line slow-wave structure is a slow-wave circuit which isformed by the array of the microstrip line on the medium in accordance with a certaincycle connected alternately in adjacent to the plane. The microstrip meander-lineslow-wave structure as a2-D plane structure is suitable for the processing ofmicrofabrication techniques. The microstrip meander-line slow-wave structure has a verygood development prospects with low operating voltage, wide bandwidth, suitable forsheet-beam.There are some microstrip meander-line slow-wave structure have been proposed suchas the N-type, the U-type, the V-type microstrip meander-line slow-wave structure andsome deformation structure. The characteristic of these structures are low normalizedphase velocity, weak dispersion, so the operating voltage is low on beem-wave interactionprocess. The main characteristics of microstrip meander-line slow-wave structure presentsas the dispersion characteristics, interaction impedance, transmission characteristics, andbeem-wave interaction process. This paper will study on these characteristics of microstripmeander-line slow-wave structure.This paper presents a new type of microstrip meander line slow-wave structure andresearch of its performance, the main contents of this article are as follows:1. A new sine-shaped microstrip slow-wave structure is proposed, and analysis of thedispersion characteristics, interaction impedance, transmission characteristics, andbeem-wave interaction process at Ka-band are presented. 2.A sine shaped microstrip slow-wave structure with a ridge based on sine-shapedmicrostrip slow-wave structure, and analysis of the impacts on its dispersion characteristics,interaction impedance, transmission characteristics by the ridge, and its beem-waveinteraction are presented.3. Analysis of the dispersion characteristics, interaction impedance transmissioncharacteristics and beem-wave interaction process of sine shaped microstrip slow-wavestructure with a ridge at V-band.
