In recent years, how to apply network coding in the real network has become ahot topic of research. In wireless networks, wireless transmission has the naturalcharacteristic of broadcast, this just fit the conditions required by network coding.When traditional nodes overhear those MAC frames that not destined for them, theychoose to discard them. From the intuitive point of view, this is a great waste ofresources. Therefore, we can consider that the nodes cache the MAC data framethey’ve overheard, the relay can encode the frames to be forwarded and then forwardthe encoded frame. The destination nodes can decode the frames right for themaccording to the frames they’ve cached.But the strategy mentioned above has some problems: the relay needs to know theresults of the destination nodes have overheard before encoding, if let the destinationnodes notice their overheard report, it will bring tremendous overhead; after gettingoverheard report, the relay needs appropriate coding algorithm for encoding; and whatkind of interactive ways the relay and the destination node should take to accomplishefficient encoding and forwarding.In response to these problems, the paper proposes the WMNT protocol: the relayonly needs to take the link quality information obtained from the destination nodes’report periodically as its trust degree to the link quality; then it guess the destinationnodes’ overheard result according to the trust degree, and then act encoding andforwarding according to the coding algorithm; through the feedback information of thedestination node, the relay nodes can dynamically adjust their trust degree in real timein order to adapt to the dynamic changes of the network.For WMNT protocol, the paper takes some simulation analysis, the result showthat when select appropriate parameters, the effective throughput of the relay node canbe increased by1.35times.Finally, we implemented the WMNT protocol in GNU Radio and USRP platform,and verified that the WMNT protocol is achievable.
