As an important technique for precision strike in the modern information warfare,target damage assessment technique had been extensive attention by scholars in recentyears, and became an emerging research hotspot. Target damage assessment techniqueis mainly concentrated in the physical sense of the changed features extraction andanalysis at present stage, such physical damage assessment method does not take intoaccount the different functions of different types of target characteristics. Functionaldamage assessment could analysis the specific features of targets features. To extractswhat kinds of indicators can be fully characterize the functional properties of thedamage situation, how to quantitative analysis the functional damage, how tocomprehensive evaluation of the damage level are the focus and difficulties ofresearch. This topic’s research has the vital practical significance in both civil andmilitary applications.Firstly, from the perspective of physical damage, this thesis discusses the physicaldamage assessment algorithm based on a combination of geometric features andtexture features. To get the changed area from the image before damage to the imageafter damage by change detection algorithm, analysis the changed geometric features,then calculate the texture statistical characteristics of image before damage and imageafter damage respectively. Combine the geometric features and texture features, andobtains physical damage assessment results through empirical formulas andmathematical models. Experimental results show that physical damage assessmentalgorithm can objectively reflect the physical damage situation of targets.Against to the practical features of bridge, building and runway targets, this thesisstudy on functional damage indicators and assessment algorithm. For bridges, thisthesis presented a new indicator called narrowest opening path, scan binary image tosearch narrowest opening path through a circular template. For buildings, this thesispresented a damage assessment algorithm based on changed corners, surface andvolume of buildings, extract damage corners based on disappear edges, calculate thedamage area of surface based on change edges, and then fit the change parts to apolyhedron to get damage volume. For airport runways, against the threeshortcomings of traditional minimum operating strip search algorithm, this thesispresented an improved search algorithm. Results of experiences for each target showsthat the functional damage assessment algorithms presented by this thesis caneffectively reflect the actual functional damage situations. And then, combinefunctional damage assessment result with physical damage assessment result, to getcomprehensive damage assessment level. Experimental results show thatcomprehensive assessment results can comprehensively reflect the physical and functional damage situation.Developed the comprehensive damage assessment software based on Visual C++6.0environment, this software accomplished the whole algorithms of target damageassessment in this thesis. This software provides a good platform for research and testfor target damage assessment algorithm.
