With the development of wireless communications, commercial RF chips withlow power consumption and low cost have been widely used in the fields of wirelesssensor networks. However, because of the low power of RF chips, the reliability ofcommercial RF chips decreases obviously. Therefore, it is crucial to improve thereliability of commercial RF chips. The method based on forward error correction(FEC) improves the reliability of commercial RF chips by using channel coding.However, when applied in complex transmission environment, these schemes cannoteffectively resist the influence of multipath effect. Thus the reliability of commercialRF chips cannot be effectively improved.To resist the influence of multipath effect and improve the reliability ofcommercial RF chips, based on rate-compatible punctured Turbo codes, this thesisdesigns a cooperative communication verification system, which combines FEC andcooperative communication. The verification system contains four parts: a controlnode, a source node, a relay node and a destination node. The communication moduleof each node is composed of C8051F120and CC1101. In the system, the control nodesends the commanding frame, and then the network synchronization is achieved.Coded cooperation scheme based on rate-compatible punctured Turbo codes is used atthe source node and the relay node, coding gain and diversity gain are obtainedsimultaneously at the destination node using iterative decoding, thereby improving thereliability of commercial RF chips.The designed cooperative communication verification system includes the designof hardware platform, host computer software, and MCU software. Test results showthat, compared with point-to-point communications, the coded cooperativecommunication based on rate-compatible Turbo codes can significantly reduce thepacket error rate, and thus improve the reliability of commercial RF chips.
