With the continuously improvement of the reliability and real-timerequirements in industrial control, the traditional bus is unable to break throughthe bottleneck of real-time communication, efficiency, and bus-poweredtechnology. Recently it is gradually replaced by some new technology. At homeand abroad an emerging Industrial Ethernet technology which applys theEthernet to industrial control causes more and more attention. EtherCATIndustrial Ethernet protocol is an improved Ethernet frame structure and it is oneof the highest reliability and real-time Industrial Ethernet protocols.This paper has presented an EtherCAT slave protocol stack implementationbased on the STM32processor. First, analyze the EtherCAT protocol includingthe physical layer protocol, data link layer protocol and application layerprotocol. Second, this paper focuses on designing and developing the EtherCATslave protocol software based on STM32processor. Design and implement theslave software including state machine processing function, the concreterealization of the cyclical process data and mailbox data. After that, anEtherCAT master-slave operation platform is set up to verify the reliability andreal-time performance of the slave protocol stack. The total time of sending andreceiving one EtherCAT message is2ms and it is a little change with the increaseof the number of slave. Finally, an innovation in this paper is the design of aSmart Home Network Control System based on the EtherCAT real-timecommunication protocol stack. It is more significant advantages than the singlechip control system in extension ability, data processing ability and real-time.Realize the smart home smart switch and face recognition access applicationcontrol tasks. It can improve the home security and the real-time monitoring. It isone of the most prospects of development of Industrial Ethernet technologyapplications.The slave protocol stack has achieved the EtherCAT slave functionality andruns on the STM32processor. It is a high running speed and ensures thereal-time of the entire EtherCAT system.
