The steel strip bundling robot is a kind of special machineries for steel coil bundlingand packaging. It is mainly used in iron and steel metallurgy industry. As the last step ofthe production of strip steel coils, it has a great impact on the quality of the strip surfaceand transportation. After decades of accumulation of technology and development, thelevel of automation of the steel strip balers made in foreign countries becomes very high.The bundling speed becomes faster. The reliability and service life are also rising. Incontrast, the steel strip balers made in China are fewer and fewer, and are mostly used inlight industry, service industry. These balers are manual, semi-automatic and part of thegeneral-purpose bale packaging machinery. So these products can’t meet therequirements of domestic iron and steel metallurgy product packaging.In order to meet the domestic iron and steel enterprises to improve the quality ofproduct packaging and the needs of the international packaging standards, one kind of thestrip bundling robot that the rolled eye vertically placed has been designed in thisarticle.1) A design decision about steel strip bundling robot is proposed.2) This paper focuses on two kinds of new mechanisms. The one is named tightenmechanism, Tighten institution adopts the four clamping arms form. The four clampingarms press the surface of steel coils. With the rotating disk moving, the clamping armsbegin to rotate and finish the tightening action;the other one is named friction wheeldrive mechanism. The friction wheel drive mechanism can send and drag steel band. Inthe compressed state, there is an angle of contact between pinch roller and friction wheelin this mechanism.3) The article uses ANSYS finite element software on some elements of statics anddynamics analysis to prove its feasibility.4) Through of this baler workflow and the implementing agencies action, this articlehas designed the pneumatic control system and has taken full account of the anti-jamming system performance.
