Analysis Of Crisis Management On College Campuses

Based on public relation theories and crisis management theories, this paper firstly introduces the current situation, the importance and the particularity of public relation crisis on campus in terms of public relation crisis. Secondly, with the methods of case study and quantitative analysis, this paper deeply analyzes eight types of crisis events on college campuses in recent years, and summarizes three characteristics of them: deeper impact, faster spread and hard-to-control development trend. By the analysis of the three characteristics, we think they are five aspects related to campus crisis events, which are personal factors, social factors, family factors, school management and service factors, religious factors. Finally, the paper puts forward the measures of campus crisis management in the aspects of establishment of crisis management mechanism, crisis management system construction, forewarning system, crisis education and crisis management training.Considering the severity of campus crises, campus safety management departments should be deeply aware of campus crises featuring deeper impact, faster spread, and hard-to-control development trend. Colleges must build up a timely and efficient management system to cope with campus crises in a fast, proper, and efficient manner. In terms of hardware construction, colleges should change their organizational structure from out-dated inefficient hierarchy bureaucracy to a flat organizational structure featuring effectiveness, quick response, and clear rights and duties. In terms of software construction, colleges should have qualified crisis management personnel and deliver good training sessions in terms of crisis awareness, crisis education, and crisis management to prevent potential crises. Meanwhile, campus crisis management is a systemic project that requires integration of various resources in colleges to effectively cope with campus crises.
