Migrant Workers In Xi'an City Integration And Route Selection Research

The problem of the Chinese Migrant Workers is one of the main social problems in China. Migrant Workers is a group of people who emerged when China transformed from a planned economy country to a market economy one. To resolve the problem, Migrant Workers have to integrate themselves into city life. The integration is a progress as well as a result, which means Migrant Workers to be more adaptable to city environment on different aspects, including economy, social life, cultural and psychology. Similarly, these aspects act as the way in which they integrate themselves into city life.This study uses a series of indicators to differentiate the city integration extent of Xi’an Migrant Workers. On one hand, this study describes the current status of their city integration. Government systems are the biggest obstacles that stop them from joining into cities, while cities’ social culture psychology is the most acceptable one for Migrant Workers. On the other hand, this paper analysis the specialties of Xi’an Migrant Workers whose have different city integration extent, which displays their city integration life.By using results from data analysis, this study explores the adverse factors that hinder Xi’an Migrant Workers’ city integration on different levels and in different dimensions. At the same time, some relative solutions have been given to guide Migrant Workers to join into cities quickly and smoothly.This study has seven chapters.The first Chapter gives reasons on why conducting this research, including problems rising, current research in this field, the status of research object and the meaning of research. In addition, this chapter explains some key conception and terms for the following part.The second chapter discusses relative theories, current research situations and research achievements both at home and abroad.The third chapter introduces the research method of this study, including data sources, sampling method, statistical method and analysis tool. Moreover, this chapter gives detailed introduction on the standard city integration extant of Migrant Workers.The forth chapter is mainly about analyzing the current status of city integration extant of Xi’an Migrant Workers. By descriptively analyzing different indicators, this chapter exhibits how the research objects get used to city life from economic integration, system integration, social relationship integration and cultural psychology integration.The fifth chapter is mainly about the stratification study of city integration extant of Xi’an Migrant Workers. In this paper, according to different degree of city integration, the author divided the Migrant Workers into four levels and did a comparative research in four aspects including economic, institutional, social relations and culture.The sixth chapter classifies all research objects into four groups:Original Rural Migrant Workers, Slight City Integrated Migrant Workers, Heavy City Integrated Migrant Workers and Almost Urban Residents. This chapter displays how the research objects get used to city life step by step, and finally resolve problems and get fit in city life.The final chapter concludes on how to get over of the adverse factors which hinder the city integration of Xi’an Migrant Workers. It proposes some advices and strategies to solute the problems of Chinese Migrant Workers.
