In the process of the economic globalization, there is a tremendous reformationunderway in the field of political, economic and culture, which is also undergoing in thefield of Higher Education. The aim of the universities is to foster the innovative studentsbecause of the internationalization of higher education, while in this development the mostimportant is to build a group of teachers with international consciousness and vision withthe highest level. At present, the overall level of internationalization of faculty(IF) in ourcountry is lower than ones in developed countries, which is not only restricted by ourschool’s mechanism, by also influenced by themselves. These problems focus on thefollowing several fundamental questions: What on earth is IF? What are critical influencefactor in the activities of IF? How could we make a more effective and valid promotionway for the construction of IF in our country? The presence of these questions requires a strong interpretation of IF, so I decide tolaunch one empirical survey rationally from teachers in Huazhong University of Scienceand Technology on the theory of glocalization and rational choice. Based on the data fromteachers of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the specific occurrence ofcurrent internationalization of teachers in phenomena and its problems should bedisplayed. Then from above feature analysis, the thesis makes an attempt to give somesuggestion to improve our current situation for IF.The thesis is mainly divided into five parts:Part one is introduction of thesis. It discusses the origin and necessity of IF, andreviews the ideas and methods about the research.Part two is about review on literature of IF. It sorts all information on the review ofcurrent research in IF, as well as explains main concepts concerning IF. At the same time, there is a total review about international activities of Huazhong University of Science andTechnology, especially following the history of internationalization of its teachers.Part three designs the questionnaire of IF in our country, which includes the researchmethods, theoretical basis and the inspection for reliability and validity. Part four makes a descriptive analysis of present IF’s situation in HuazhongUniversity of Science and Technology, which is based on the investigation data. From fourdifferent degrees of international participation among those investigated faculty, there arefour dimensions for all teachers, which are those who not only do research or teachstudents on abroad but also integrate international issues into their own local teaching orresearch; those who only do research or teaching on abroad; those who integrateinternational issues into their own local teaching or research through they didn’t go abroad;those who never want to integrate international issues into their research or teaching anddidn’t go abroad. Then, these cause the differences among groups of IF and influencingfactors with respective descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and factor analysis to thefour groups.Part five makes the conclusions and recommendations. Current influences amongfour groups of IF activities are combined following factors: the region of internationalresearch or teaching activities; the international literature for scientific research; themethods of teaching activities; the adoption of achievements by foreign organization; thefund applied by our universities to promote the IF; participating in foreign academicconference; the internationalization of curriculums and students. In the end, by analyzingthe above data conclusion, the thesis puts forwards some thinking on the growth road of IFbased on theory of glocalization and rational choice.
