One of the most important tasks of Chinese education in primaryschools is to improve students’ reading skill. Students’ expressivelanguage skill is closely related to their reading ability, so theteaching of reading should be partly intended to instruct students inverbal expression and writing. However, in primary schools, many teachersdon’t put enough emphasis on improving students’ expressive languageskill. They focus on the comprehension of a passage instead of verbalexpression. When teachers analyze a passage too much, they will deprivestudents of their opportunity to practise.As a result they will hold backstudents’ progress in their expressive language skill.How can we change the situation? Why can’t we improve students’expressive language skill in the teaching of reading?What rules shouldwe follow in reading education? How can we practise the rules in class?My essay is intended to answer these questions through research, aimingto form an effective strategy in language training and make peopleunderstand the relationship between reading and expressive language skillin a practical way. And thus I hope the essay will be an effective basisfor teachers to improve their students’ expressive language skill in theteaching of reading.According to the language expression problems by teachers duringreading teaching, this article mainly focuses on the proposed solutionby using action research and case study methods, in following thetext-oriented, student-focused, progressive principles. Firstly, studymaterials and use resources flexibly. Fully excavate the key points oflanguage development in the text and design to fit students ’characteristics, innovative, multi-dimensional language expressiontraining which is allowed students to get the words of wisdom by “textlanguage” to “know the words” and “get the meaning”. Secondly, apply methods wisely and promote effectiveness. Adopt topic and punctuation toachieve the objective of improving the students ’ language skills throughreading imagination, reading conclusion and reading comprehensiontraining. Thirdly, grasp the opportunity and practice timely. Designlanguage expression training points from students’ knowledge conversion,doubt, divergent thinking, emotion blend and plot gap to arouse students’ motivation for learning and promote the effectiveness of training.Finally, base on learning situation and practice as required. We shouldtrain students’ language expressive skills according to students’psychological and developing needs so that their skills can develop inthe long-run.
