Aiming at the problem that the external research of Wu Jianren’s creation of romantic novels ignores the contemporary trend of thoughts which the link between works and external condition, this paper uses the Cultural Thoughts——the Buddhism of the Late Qing Dynasty、the Women’s Liberation of the Late Qing Dynasty and the Cultural Crazy of A Dream of Red Mansions of the Late Qing Dynasty——as the research perspective to study Wu Jianren’s creation of romantic novels. It focuses on the effects that made by the three Cultural Thoughts to Wu Jianren and the expression that Wu Jianren how to use the three Cultural Thoughts to write romantic novels. In addition, this paper researches into the causes why Wu Jianren chose the three Cultural Thoughts and then analyses the characteristics of creative thinking and importance and significance of Wu Jianren’s creation of romantic novels.This thesis is comprised of five chapters:Chapter one describes the Late Qing Dynasty Cultural Thoughts briefly and analyses the causes and characteristics of them. Chapter two discusses that Wu Jianren applied the Buddhism of the Late Qing Dynasty to write romantic novels. He got rid of superstition and exaggerated salvation. Chapter three analyses the expression and causes that Wu Jianren made exception of the Women’s Liberation of the Late Qing Dynasty. He supported unbound feet movement and women schools, but he strongly opposed the freedom to marry. Thus the ethical theme that hid Wu Jianren’s cultural anxiety was born. Chapter four discusses the expression and causes that Wu Jianren criticized the Cultural Crazy of A Dream of Red Mansions of the Late Qing Dynasty, and Wu Jianren’s creation of romantic novels appeared dispute of emotion and reason. Chapter five includes the causes that Wu Jianren chose the three Cultural Thoughts, and the characteristics and significance of Wu Jianren’s creation of romantic novels.By the way which Wu Jianren dealt with the three Cultural Thoughts we can learnt about his complicated psychosis. Although he took a skeptical attitude to the old moral, he still followed the old way to save the nation. Although he suffered from inward struggle, Wu Jianren didn’t break through the limitation of times.
