Objective:To detect the expression of Snail, E-cadherin and Vimentin in three different ovarian tissue, and analysis the relationship between the expression of the three proteins and the clinical pathology features in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma, and the correlation of the expression intensity between the three proteins was also researched, To explore the effect of Snail-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in ovarian cancer development and metastasis. Methods:To detect the expression of Snail、E-cadherin and Vimentin in48cases of ovarian serous adenocarcinoma,48cases of ovarian borderline serous adenomas and48cases of ovarian serous adenomas by immunohistochemical method. To investigate the relationship between the expression of three proteins and FIGO staging, histological grade, lymph node metastasis, Peritoneal planting, and the correlation between Snail、E-cadherin and Vimentin in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma was also investigated.Results:1.The expression rate of Snail in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma was68.75%,which was higher than those in ovarian borderline serous adenomas41.67%and in ovarian serous adenomas25.00%, the results were statistically significant(P<0.05). The expression rate of Vimentin in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma was66.67%,which was higher than those in ovarian borderline serous adenomas37.50%and in ovarian serous adenomasl8.75%, the results had statistically significant(P<0.01). The expression rate of E-cadherin in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma was27.08%,which was less than those in ovarian borderline serous adenomas54.17%and in ovarian serous adenomas75.00%, the results were statistically significant(P<0.05).2. In ovarian serous adenocarcinoma tissues, the higher expression levels of Snail and Vimentin were associated with late FIGO staging, poorly histological grade, lymph node metastasis and peritoneal planting. The lower expression levels were observed in early FIGO staging, well-differentiated tissues, no lymph metastasis and peritoneal planting. But the expression of E-cadherin in late FIGO staging, poorly histological grade, lymph node metastasis and peritoneal planting’s ovarian cancers was significantly lower than in early FIGO staging,well-differentiated tissues,no lymph metastasis and peritoneal planting’s ovarian cancers tissues. 3. Spearman correlation analysis showed:The expression of Snail and E-cadherin was negatively correlation in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma(r=-0.601,P<0.01); The expression of Snail and Vimentin was positive correlation in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma(r=0.477,P<0.01); The expression of E-cadherin and Vimentin was not obviously correlation in ovarian serous adenocarcinoma(r=-0.464,P<0.01).Conclution:The expression levels of transcription factor Snail and interstitial cell markers Vimentin was upregulated, the expression level of Epithelial cell markers E-cadherin downregulated, suggesting that Snail-mediated EMT may be related to progression and metastasis of ovarian cancer.
