ObjectiveTo understand the social adaptability of medical students’ and study the relationship between social adaptability and stress-coping abilities, and the factors that will influence the medical students’stress-coping abilities, so as to provide theoretical foundation for better students’training of medical institutions.Approach①Social adaptability test and stress-coping questionnaire,294medical students were selected for the test by stratified-cluster sampling method. The questionnaire consists of three parts, the first part is the student’s basic information, the second part is social adaptation diagnostic questionnaire which is revised by professor Zheng Richang, and the third part adopts professor Xiao Jihua’s questionnaire of coping ways②By testing the reliability and validity of the questionnaire, the Cronbach’s a coefficient on social adaptability is0.682, and Cronbach’s a coefficient on stress-coping is0.796.③further using of the sample mean T test and One-Way ANOVA analysis of SPSS17.0software to test whether there is a significant difference on social adaption ability and stress-coping ability between different medical students.④using correlation analysis to determine the correlation between medical students’ social adaption ability and stress-coping ability.⑤using regression analysis to test possible factors that influence medical students’social adaption ability and stress-coping ability.Results①sample mean T-test and ANOVA shows that medical students of different gender have no significant difference on social adaption ability and stress-coping ability (P>0.05);②sample mean T-test and ANOVA shows that students with different hometowns, whether the only child of a family, and with different enrollment types have significant difference (P<0.05) on social adaption ability and stress-coping ability;③Pearson correlation analysis shows that medical students’social adaption ability and stress-coping ability have significantly positive relationship (r=0.312, P<0.01), which means that the higher the social adaption ability is, the better the stress-coping ability will be;④Multiple regression analysis shows that participation of psychology courses and social practice can improve students’ social adaption ability and stress-coping ability (P<0.05).ConclusionThese results suggest that medical students who live in’adverse environment’tend to have better social adaption ability and stress-coping ability than those who live in ’favorable environment’. However, positively enhancing students’mental health level and creating activities of societies arid social practice can effectively improve the social adaption ability and stress-coping ability of medical students.
