Background:as we are experiencing an aging nation, stroke, with its increasing morbidity, has now been an deadly threaten to our health. The squeal of body locomotive dysfunction after stroke affect patients’quality of life, in which the spasticity has been an outstanding obstacle for rehabilitation and has aroused wide attention globally to decrease the muscular tention after ischemic stroke. Objective:to observe the effect of abdominal acupuncture for post ischemic stroke spasticity in rehabilitation episode. Methods and materials:90patients in accordance with the diagnostic standards were randomized into two groups, with each experimental and control group45menbers. The patients of experimental group were treated with abdominal acupuncture and the control group by traditional acupunctures. Every patient received excessive6weeks of five times therapy every2days to the sum of30therapy. They were measured by Asthworth index, CAI index, modified Fugl-Meyer locomotive assessing score and PRO index before and after the therapy.Results:1.the MAS score of both groups had significant alteration pre and post therapy respectively(p<0.05). Difference of post therapy MAS score between the two groups drew signigicance(p<0.05), inferring that the experimental group had better effect in decreasing the spasticity of upper limbs, with the detailed data below: the components of satisfied effect, effect, alleviation and disutility of the experimental outcome displaying7,16,16,6respectively, with the total effective rate of86.67%, and that of the control group displaying2,10,21,12, with the total effective rate of73.33%.2. The CSI score of both groups had significant alteration between pre and post therapy respectively(p<0.05). Difference of post therapy CAI score between the two groups drew signigicance(p<0.05), inferring that the experimental group had better effect in decreasing the spasticity of lower limbs.3. The FMA score of both groups had significant alteration between pre and post therapy respectively(p<0.05). Difference of post therapy FMA score between the two groups drew signigicance(p<0.05), inferring that the experimental group had better effect in rehabilitation of function of upper and lower limbs.4. The PRO score of both groups had significant alteration between pre and post therapy respectively(p<0.05). Difference of post therapy PRO score between the two groups drew signigicance(p<0.05), inferring that the experimental group had better effect in the assessment of PRO score system. Conclusion:the effect of abdominal in relieving spasticity and restoring myodynamia in rehabilitation episode after ischemic stroke can be better than that of traditional acupuncture. Abdominal acupuncture can also alleviate the patients’subjective discomfort and achieve social psychological effect(PRO score) better than traditional acupuncture. More researches on abdominal acupuncture may be desired.
