Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba Dana) may be the largest and arguably the mostabundant single schooling species found on the earth, and its nutritive value is markedlyhigh, because of that, the commercial fishing of Antarctic krill has drawn great attention bymany countries at the beginning of1970s. Because of Antarctic krill has a fundamentalposition in polar marine food webs, its scientific and reasonable development and utilizationmust be based on having known its stock abundance and the variability in abundance. Sincethe First China Antarctic Scientific Research was carried out in1984,the observation ofAntarctic krill was never interrupted. Nowadays,“XueLongHao” scientific research vesselis the survey platform”XueLongHao” as the survey platform of China Antarctic ScientificResearch installed scientific echosounder which could continuously measure and record theechoes from organism in the water on its track. Using those acoustic datum could acquiresome physical indexes which indicate the biomass density, and this work is significantimportance for studying the global ocean biomass distribution and the distribution ofresearch species in some crucial area.October,2011to April,2012China made the28th Scientific Research of the AntarcticArea. In the28th Scientific Research of the Antarctic Area, an acoustic estimation using thepre-planned cruise track of the Antarctic krill in the north and northwestward sea area of theAntarctic Peninsula is done. Two biological sampling traws are made, and acquire Antarctickrill and other biological samples. Also, acoustic datum is collected from the part sea areaaround the Antarctic continent and the Prydz Bay. October,2012to April2013, China madethe29th Scientific Research of the Antarctic Area. During this Research, an acousticestimation using the pre-planned cruise track of the Antarctic krill in Prydz Bay is done.Five biological sampling traws are made, and acquire about5730g Antarctic krill samples. Also, acoustic datum is collected from the part sea area around the Antarctic continent andthe Ross Sea, and one biological sampling traws are made in the Ross Sea, acquire Antarctic krill samples.Acoustic datum from those two surveyes are post-analysised using theEchoview V4.6software. And combined with analysis of Antarctic krill samples acquriredby biological traws, the density distribution of Antarctic krill in the two crucial areas andthe nasc distribution of biology in15-200m upper layer of other sea areas are obtained, themain results as follows:In the28th China Scientific Research of the Antarctic Area, the mean biomass in thenorth and northwestward survey area of the Antarctic Peninsula is27.30g·m-2(CV,145.7%).Antarctic krill is mainly distributed in a58.61km width area around the midline from60.5°S、55°W to60.25°S、51°W,and the mean biomass in this area is85.19g·m-2, themaximum value is190.04g·m-2. Other survey area has a low Antarctic krill density,20.37g·m-2,except a special area around62.8°S、47.5°W, the mean and maximum biomassdensity is200.84g·m-2and297.24g·m-2respectively.In the29th China Scientific Research of the Antarctic Area, the mean biomass densityin the Pryds Bay survey area is32.8g·m-2(CV,659.4%).Be bound by continental slope,Antarctic krill is mainly distributed in the continental shelf waters, with the mean biomassdensity is78.1g·m-(2CV,427.6%),while the mean biomass density of Antarctic krill in theabysmal region is1.8g·m-2(CV,224.0%).
