Airboene passive phased array radar designed in this paper contains so many electronic equipments. The layout of electronic equipments, installation, cables arrangement and maintainability requirements have been researched. The structural strength-stiffness of the antenna array should be made sure to satisfy electrical performance and environment requirement. So the structure design of the airbone passive phased array radar is a complex system engineering that integrates with mechanics, electronic system, strength and thermal subjects.We combine CAD and CAE technologies in the design of airborne passive phased array radar antenna, and Pro/E, MSC-PATRAN, MSC-NASTRAN have been used. Firstly, the antenna array was reasonably arranged according to the electrical performance requirements Based on the lightweight design, the antenna frame used carbon fiber/epoxy composites material and collaborative design process of the frame and the other components have been discussed in detail. Secondly, the maintainability of the antenna array has been researched. Finally, the finite element model of the whole antenna array has been established using MSC-NASTRAN. Static strength and dynamic analysis were conducted, and based on them; the deformation and stress distribution of the antenna array under different loading condition has been obtained.The structure design method and process have given out in this paper which provides a valuable reference to the design of airborne passive phased array radar antenna.
