A Study On The China Women’s Federation Intervening Domestic Violence

Domestic violence, especially Domestic violence toward women, children,elderly and the vulnerable group, has become a social problem concerned across thewhole global community. In recent years, cases of Domestic violence remain a risingtrend both at home and abroad. Various cases of Domestic violence have beencovered in news causing extensive public concern. Family is the cell of a society andthe footstone of the social stability. Domestic violence seriously imperils family’sstability and social harmony, encroaches on victim’s human rights and exerts a badinfluence on the whole society. Therefore, how to effectively intervene in Domesticviolence has become a top urgency. As a bridge and a close link between thegovernment and the people, the Women’s Federation has a distinct political propertyand public property. It is an integration of the nature of our party and the people.Taking advantages of its own, the Women’s federation actively promotes the workagainst Domestic violence through legitimate intervention and cooperation with otherdepartments. Under the new social management pattern, a study on the intervention ofthe Women’s Federation in Domestic violence has a significant meaning.In this paper, it tends to expound the reason and harmfulness of Domesticviolence, the status quo of the Women’s Federation’s intervention and a comparison between advantages and disadvantages with a combination of case study in preventionand governance work against Domestic violence in grass-roots Women’s Federation.It aims to discuss about countermeasures and policies in Domestic violenceintervention. There are five parts in the main body of this paper. In the first part, itintroduces the reason and harmfulness of Domestic violence, analyzes the concept,characteristics, reasons and harmfulness of Domestic violence and clarifies thedefinition of Domestic violence and the scope of the object of this study so as tocreate conditions for the study. In the second part, it introduces experience ofintervention in Domestic violence in western countries. Through the introduction ofthe development of International Women’s Movement and relevant practices in othercountries, it provides this study with good experience and some helpful information.In the third part, it is about a case study of Domestic violence. It analyzes the effectiveapproaches in grass-roots Women’s Federation’s intervention in Domestic violenceand provides this study with advices and guidance. In the fourth part, it analyzes thestatus quo of the Women’s Federation’s intervention in Domestic violence andexpounds the legislation against Domestic violence and the development of the ChinaWomen’s Federation as well as the achievements and difficulties in Domestic violenceintervention. These consist of the foundation of this study. In the final part, it putsforward some countermeasures and advices regarding further promoting the Women’sFederation’s intervention in Domestic violence, such as boosting legislation andcooperation among departments, enhancing human right protection and publicity. Thispart increases the value of application of this study.
