Hongtong county, as the first largest county of Shanxi Province,preserves the ancient stage which can be trade back to Song dynasty,Two thirds of which belongs to Yuan dynasty, which made Hongtongthe holy place to study the Chinese stage. In the1930s, some operaresearch scholars and archaeologists published photos and writingarticles to introduce the opera cultural relic.. After the liberation, asa large number of precious cultural relics were unearthed insuccession, the professional team of opera cultural relic researchgradually came into being. At the same time, the subject of opera andcultural relic also came into being. Correspondingly, it also appearedmany monographs and research articles. Some research scholarsmade a fragmented introduction to the Hongtong stage on thesearticles. There were some articles that discussed the ancient stagetoo which were published on the newspapers and literature.Hongtong county, has a long history and many cultural relics. TheGuanyue temple which is located in the center of the county is atypical pavilion with three layers. The whole building is of primitivesimplicity, elegance. In addition, there are Nandu express templelocated in Ganting town and the Silurian temple located in Da Humacountry and the maitreya temple., etc. There are many temples in these cultural relics, and there are many stages in the temple whichis an important part of the temple.This article supplemented the original drama literature based onall the architectural form of the ancient stage in Hongtong county,evolution process, opera situation as well as the inscription whichreflected public psychology and the social relations. The informationabout the opera on the inscription and the stage provided lots of basisfor the study of the opera and the social relationship at that time.It helped a lot for the author to understand the deep meaning ofthe opera. The study of the Hongtong stage can fully reflect thedevelopment of the local opera, evolution, and opera as well as thelocal politics, economy, culture, religion, folk custom. In the Modernand contemporary times, owning to the lack of attention and a varietyof natural disasters, these precious cultural heritages are beingdestroyed, many precious stage are disappearing. So we have toprotect them. The comprehensive description for the stages inHongtong county can make people have a better understanding forthese stage so as to provide the referring material for the culturalrelics department.
