Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease which is caused by many factors. Obesityis mainly triggered by excessive calories intake from diet and the lack of physicalexercise. It is also main culprit in many diseases, such as diabetes, atheroscleroticheart disease, cerebrovascular diseases, high blood pressure, hyperlipoidemia andother chronic diseases. Obesity can act as a major-cause factor, triggering factor or aprogressive factor in the course of the above listed illnesses.For the past 20 years, the number of obese people worldwide has took on anexplosive increase and has brought great attention to many countries in the world. Innearly 10 years in China, the number of obese and overweight people has increasedtremendously. This is closely related to the subtle changes in the way of food intakeand different lifestyles in modern society. Not only will people who are overweightand also causes many health problems, as well as social and psychological problems.Therefore, the prevention in obesity is very important in clinical practice.Object: To evaluate the effect of Body mass index and Waist circumference of thesimply obesity treat by acupuncture.Method: 60 cases of simply obesity, all women, from the clinic of the hospital ofNanjing Chinese Medicine University .They were randomized into two groups.Treated by acupuncture for three period, 10 times is one period of treatment.Result: The total effective rate of best group was 96.67%, The total effective rate ofabdominal group was 73.33%. The two groups have remarkable effect on both Bodymass index and Waist circumference (P<0.05). Best group is superior to abdominalgroup (P<0.05).
