| Objective:Analyzing matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and its special inhibitor-tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-2(TIMP-2), and coal workers’pneumoconiosis (CWP) condition and Lung functiondamage, to explore their roles in the development of coal workers’ pneumoconiosis.Methods:The serum levels of MMP-2, TIMP-2of78CWP1patients,36healthy miners and43healthy people were detected with ELISA, and the corresponding ratio between MMP-2and TIMP-2was calculated. Then78samples’ lung function index, their blood gas analysis index and other necessary tests were analyzed. All Subjects were male, aged from29to78years old, and average age is52. Occupational coal dust exposure history was5-35years, and averaged26years.Results:1. The serum MMP-2level was significant elevated in health coal miner grade â… and grade â…¡-â…¢ CWP groups (123.50±10.49ng/ml;132.59±8.97ng/ml;96.51±20.44ng/ml) than that in health controls (59.28±10.49ng/ml),the difference was stastistically significant (P<0.01,P<0.05). The serum MMP-2level reached peak in grade I CWP. With the progress of patient’s condition, the serum MMP-2level and MMP-2/TIMP-2ratio decreased in grade â… and grade â…¡-â…¢ CWP groups.2. A positive correlation exists between MMP-2, TIMP-2ratio, FEV1.0, FVC, PEF, PEF50and TLC (Pearson correlation:r=0.218,0.207,0.199,0.198, P<0.05).3. PO2(A-a) showed a significant decrease in grade â…¡-â…¢ CWP, the difference was stastistically significant.P<0.05). Comparision with the health controls, PaCO2had hinger in grade â… , the difference was stastistically significant (P<0.05). Comparision with the health controls, PaCO2had hinger in grade â…¡-â…¢ CWP groups, the difference was stastistically significant (P<0.01).The PO2(A-a) showed a significantly higher level in healthy coal miner than that of coal miners who expose in coal dust (13.74±4.22mmHg VS4.59±5.58mmHg, P<0.05)Conclusion:1.The serum levels of MMP-2, TIMP-2of coal miners, â… CWP and â…¡-â…¢ CWP patients were higher than those of healthy people. The analysis results indicated that those ratios and indices closely related not only to the radiographic category of CWP but also to its deterioration pattern of lung function and fibrotic phase in coal dust exposed.2. MMP-2/TIMP-2ratio might be used as a sensitive index in early changes of lung function.3. PO2(A-a) is early seemed to be more susceptible than DLCO in healthy control. |
