Background.Heparanase(HPSE) and matrix metalloproteinase-9,(MMP-9) are importantproteolytic enzyme in the most of extracellular matrix(ECM).It has been a lot ofresearch and evidence prove that the HPSE and MMP9can promote tumordevelopment.but many papers only involved epithelial tumor,there is a few of researchabout mesenchymal tumor.so this study is to investigate the relationship betweenHPSE and MMP9and clinicopathological features of gastrointestinal stromaltumo(GIST),and the prognostic significance of HPSE and MMP9in GIST also will beanalyzed.ObjectiveTo evaluate the invasion of HPSE and MMP-9in GIST and its clinicalsignificance.MethodsThe proteins of HPSE and MMP-9in76cases of GIST were detected withimmunohistochemical staining,and the relationship between HPSE and MMP-9andclinicopathological features of GIST were analyzed.prognostic value of infiltratedHPSE and MMP-9was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier analysis.ResultsProteins expression of HPSE in Intermidiate and High group were81.5%and88.9%,compared with54.1%and51.4%in low and very low group. Kaplan-Meieranalysis suggest that infiltrated HPSE and MMP-9was associated with poor prognosis.There was no significant correlation between the expression of HPSE andMMP-9protein with age,gender,tumor location in patients with GIST(p>0.05),However,there was significant correlation between the expression ofCHPSE and MMP-9protein with tumor stage and Postoperative recurrence ormetastasis(p<0.05).ConclusionsHPSE and MMP-9in GIST invasion and infiltration may promote tumorprogression,and was associated with poor prognosis.
