Significance Of CK, CD99in The Differential Diagnosis Of Malignant Ovarian Tumors

ObjectiveIn recent years,with the development of immunohistochemical technique,immunohistochemical markers have important guiding significance and application value in diagnosis, differential diagnosis, staging, treatment, and prognosis.Immunohistochemisry is highly sensitive and specific for the diagnosis ofth e tumor.Herewith,we analyzed7kinds of immunohistochemical markers including CK, Vimentin, ER, PR, CD99, Inhibin-α and calretinin,expressed in ovarian Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma by using immunohistochemical technique.Then we analyzed the expression rates by statistical methods,and clear the value and meaning that these immunohistochemical markers have in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of these two different tumors.MethodsWe picked out44parafin sections diagnosed as Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor in our hospital Department of pathology in2008January-2011December into our study as one group. The other group included44parafin sections diagnosed as ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma in our hospital deparement of pathlology in2008January～2011December. We made conventional paraffin sectioning and used CK,Vimentin,ER,PR,CD99,Inhibin-α, Calretinin to stain all these parafin sections.Then we can observe immunohistochemical staining,recorded staining results,counted staining rates and analyzed the expression rates by statistical methods.Compare the different expression of immunohistochemical markers between Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma which is easily confused with Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor.Therefore,it is important to figure out the diagnosis significance,differential diagnosis and application value in clinic.ResultsAll these immunohistochemical matkers are commonly applied in immunohistochemistry.They carry out antigen antibody reaction in the tissue and cell level,labeled antibody with special color to locate the antigen(peptides and proteins) in tissue cells accurately.In our research, immunohistochemical markers CD99, Calretinin, CK,Inhibin-a, ER,PR expressed differently in Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma. The expression rates had obvious statistical significance.While the expression rates of Vimentin had no clear statistical significance in these two different ovarian tumors.In other words, CD99、Inhibin-α Calretinin、CK、ER、PR can be used to identify the origin of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma.They were important playing a decisive role in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of these two different tumors.ConclusionThe expression rates of CD99、Calretinin、CK、Inhibin-α、ER and PR in Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma were statistically significant, furthermore, they had important significance and clinical application value in the two different tumor diagnosis and differential diagnosis.On the other hand, The expression rates of Vimentin in Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma had no statistical significance,which implied that they hardly had significance and application value in these two tumors.
