Comparison Of InterTAN And DHS Blade In The Treatment Of AO/OTA Type31-A1Hip Fractures

Objectives:To compare the efficaly difference of DHS blade and InterTAN in thetreatment of AO/OTA type31-A1hip fractures and to provide the basis forthe choice of surgical procedure.Methods:28patients with traumatic intertrochanteric fracture (AO/OTA31-A1)treated by DHS blade or InterTAN from Aug2011to Aug2013in the FirstHospital of Jilin University were reviewed and analyzed. Patients weredivided in two groups regarding to treatment. In Group A (18cases), thepatients were treated with DHS blade. While in Group B(10cases) weretreated with InterTAN. The informations of patients’ medical records,outpatient follow-up and telephone follow-up were collected and analyzed.The mean follow-up duration was13.2months(rang6-24months).The mainoutcome measures included operative time, incision size, intraoperative bloodloss, hospital stay, surgery cost, fracture union time, Harris score. Forstatisfical analysis, spass17.0were used.Results:①The Group A, incision size:9.89±2.03cm; intraoperative bloodloss:165.6±45.79ml;operative time:77.6±15.3minutes; surgery cost:38776.4±2426.0yuan.The Group B, incision size:5.10±0.99cm; intraoperative bloodloss:93.0±18.4ml; operative time:97.0±261minutes; surgery cost:51367.8±3123.8yuan. There were statistically significant(p＜0.05) differences inincision size，intraoperative blood loss，operative time and surgery cost between the two groups. The group A was better than Group B in the aspectsof operative time and surgery cost. The group B was better than Group A inthe aspects of intraoperative blood loss and incision size.②The Group A,Ages:71.9±10.5years; hospital stay:7.4±3.5days;fracture union time12.88±12.99weeks;the incidence of complications:6.00%; Harris score85.67±8.99.The Group B, Ages:75.3±13.9years; hospital stay:9.9±4.4days; fracture uniontime:12.88±12.99weeks; the incidence of complications:10.00%;Harrisscore:84.60±3.31. There were no significant differences between the twogroups in Ages, hospital stay, fracture union time, the incidence ofcomplications and Harris score.Conclusion:①Both of the two groups achieved satisfactory clinical efficacy.②We suggest choosing DHS blade for treating AO/OTA type31-A1hipfracture.
